My Perspective on Wansongtang | Two Years of Deep Cultivation, Innovation Blossoms on the R&D Frontier

On August 8, 2023, the morning rain of the plum rain season soaked Wuhan. With a mix of anticipation and nervousness, I stepped through the gates of Wansongtang. At that time, the Wuhan factory was a hive of construction activity; the second floor was bustling with the construction of the tablet and hard-capsule health food workshop and laboratory. The roar of machinery, the movement of construction workers, and the smell of fresh paint in the air all spoke of the vibrant energy and vitality of the place. At that moment, I never imagined that I would be embarking on a challenging and rewarding R&D journey here.
I. Entering Wansongtang: Setting R&D Coordinates Amidst the Construction Boom
The first document I saw on my desk was the "2023-2025 Wansongtang Product R&D Outline," personally approved by Chairman Shen Xianli. This immediately made me realize that the R&D department was directly overseen by the chairman, demonstrating the company's high regard for R&D. This outline planned the direction of development for the next three years, rather than being limited to short-term goals, reflecting the company's commitment to long-termism and sustainable development.
At that moment, I thought: This is an opportunity; I can definitely make a name for myself here. But immediately, I felt apprehensive: As a post-95s newcomer, not from a prestigious university, just someone who loves food and has seriously done food R&D for a few years, would I have the chance to become a key member here? General Manager Quan Lingjun of the Wuhan company allayed my doubts: " The company never judges heroes by age , you are young, hardworking, and thoughtful—you're a good R&D personnel. As long as you work hard, you will definitely succeed!"
I then threw myself into the development of new products in categories such as tea preparations, hard capsules, tablets, and solid beverages. Faced with the new environment and work tasks, I felt both the excitement of encountering new things and the pressure of meeting challenges. I returned to my hometown of Wuhan from Shanghai, and there were many things I couldn't adapt to quickly. Fortunately, General Manager Quan consistently gave me confidence and encouragement, and the strong innovative atmosphere and the enthusiastic help of my colleagues helped me gradually find my rhythm and integrate into the team.
During the new product development process, some problems also existed in the old products that needed to be urgently addressed. To solve these problems, I immersed myself in the laboratory, consulted a large amount of information, and repeatedly discussed with team members, constantly adjusting formulas and process parameters. When I saw the optimized products successfully pass various tests and achieve stable output on the production line, a sense of accomplishment filled my heart. It was this experience that made me deeply understand Wansongtang's pursuit of product quality; every detail cannot be overlooked.
II. Breakthrough and Growth: Tempering the Original Aspiration in the Battle of Registration
In 2024, under the instruction of Mr. Shen, our R&D team faced a new challenge—embarking on a new journey of health food registration. To align with policies, seize opportunities, and quickly achieve the landing of the first batch of 40-50 health food approvals, we adopted a "round-the-clock" work model with the support of Dr. Yang, our consultant in Beijing. From product formula design and efficacy research to material writing and application communication, every link was filled with the team's hard work. We repeatedly checked the data to ensure that every application document was accurate and error-free; we actively communicated with regulatory agencies to understand policy dynamics and adjust registration strategies.
Throughout this process, Mr. Shen consistently provided us with firm support and guidance. He often said: "Health foods are related to consumer health; every approval must withstand the test of the market and time." It was this rigor and responsibility that inspired us to overcome one difficulty after another. When one approval after another was granted, laying a solid foundation for the company's domestic trade business, we knew that this was not only a victory for the R&D team but also powerful proof of Wansongtang's adherence to quality and pursuit of excellence.
III. A New Mission: Transitioning from Technical Backbone to R&D Manager
2025 was a year full of surprises and responsibilities. I was appointed as the group's R&D manager, which was not only a promotion but also a heavy responsibility and trust. The new position gave me a more arduous task—taking over the development of new dosage forms such as soft candies and soft capsules and coordinating the smooth operation of the production line. Faced with a new field, I quickly adjusted my state, leading the team to delve into the technical points of new dosage forms and study market trends and consumer needs.
From product concept design to process exploration, from raw material selection to pilot testing, every step required careful planning and strict control. We worked closely with the production department to optimize process parameters based on the characteristics of the production line to ensure that new products could be successfully put into production. In this process, I deeply understood the importance of teamwork and further understood the strategic significance of R&D work for enterprise development.
Looking back on these two years at Wansongtang, from participating in workshop construction to overcoming technical difficulties, from completing registration efforts to shouldering management responsibilities, every step has been accompanied by challenges and growth. This is not only a stage for me to showcase my talents but also fertile ground for nurturing my dreams.
Wansongtang is like a vibrant innovation magnet, attracting countless R&D personnel with dreams to gather here. Here, I have gained not only professional skills but also the deep friendship of working side-by-side with the team, and a deep understanding of "Making conscientious products, making reassuring products" , this corporate philosophy.
Mr. Shen once said: "Innovation is the soul of enterprise development, and R&D is the warrior who guards the soul." In the future, I will carry this obsession and work with the team to refine craftsmanship in the formula table and precipitate rigor in the process parameters, allowing more products with the warmth of Wansongtang to enter the market and share the next century with this land.
