2026 marks the beginning of the nation’s 15th Five-Year Plan, and also the 30th anniversary of Wansongtang—a pivotal year for launching the first five-year plan as we set out once again on a century-long journey. As we bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new, Wansongtang takes its original aspiration as its guiding light, never forgetting the “path we’ve traveled”; uses determination as its plow, steadily walking the “path beneath our feet”; and relies on confidence as its sail, firmly steering toward the “path ahead.”

I. Take our original aspiration as our guiding light and never forget the path we’ve traveled.
Never forgetting where we came from is the cornerstone of our journey toward the distant future. Using our original aspirations as our guiding light will help us re-examine Wan Song Tang’s 30-year development journey and correct our course ahead.

 

(1) Stay true to your original aspiration, and you’ll remain steadfast to the end.
Many times, as we keep walking, we forget why we set out in the first place. Here are the three soul-searching questions I’ve repeatedly asked myself over the past thirty years:


1. “Who am I?” I’m a successor to a century-old tea shop, a cultivator in the greater health industry, a practitioner of the “Healthy China” strategy, and a passionate runner chasing the wind. Asking clearly “Who am I?” helps to define one’s self-positioning, enhance self-awareness, and build confidence and self-esteem. In the course of corporate development, it enables one to always maintain a clear head and strategic composure, avoiding actions that exceed the boundaries of one’s cognition and capabilities.

 


2. “Where do I come from?” I come from the ancestral homeland of Chinese medicine—the birthplace of Emperor Yan, the legendary founder of Chinese herbal medicine. I was born into a traditional Chinese medical family and have grown up under the benevolent shade of a century-old tea shop that has weathered countless vicissitudes. Asking clearly “Where do I come from?” helps us cultivate gratitude and appreciation, look back on the past while looking forward to the future, and carry forward and sustain our heritage. In the course of corporate development, we can always remain true to our origins, stay committed to our original aspirations, respect the path we’ve traveled, and steer ourselves toward the right direction ahead.


3. “Where shall I go?” Never forget the ancestral teachings of the old tea shop—walk along the ancient Tea Horse Road and forge bonds of friendship through trade; carry forward the spirit of Shennong tasting hundreds of herbs, spreading Chinese medicine culture to the world, and driving the development of the greater health industry. In dedication to the advancement and progress of global human health, Wan Song Tang will continue to uphold its wisdom, philosophy, and sense of mission. Asking clearly, “Where do I want to go?” helps clarify goals and direction, sparks motivation and action, and enhances meaning and value. In the course of corporate development, we can always start with the end in mind, anchor ourselves firmly on our goals, hold fast to our convictions, and move forward courageously.

 


(2) Choose to stand tall and gaze at the stars.

In the eyes of many people, I have a reputation for being “always restless and eager to try new things.” Even when I’ve already achieved something that others envy, I still can’t seem to be satisfied—and I keep coming up with new ideas, new goals, new demands, and new initiatives that most people consider unnecessary, incomprehensible, or simply beyond their understanding.

 

1. Ascend to a high vantage point and look far ahead, solidifying the “foundation” of the real economy.

In the early stages of entrepreneurship, I had already established a stable and profitable business as a distributor of health supplements. The models for product selection, training, promotion, distribution, and sales promotions had all become firmly established. At a time when many people didn't believe in me or were skeptical about my prospects, I willingly took on the pressure and risks to “go all out” and set up a physical factory. As a result of this “going all out,” I’ve built one thriving enterprise after another. Integrating and innovating traditional time-honored techniques with modern technological processes, Showcasing new-quality productivity in the greater health industry, and realizing flexible, personalized, automated, and intelligent production lines for hundreds of products across multiple dosage forms and categories—including functional tea products, solid beverages, convenience foods, compressed candy tablets, gel candies, hard and soft capsules, jellies, herbal pastes, plant-based beverages, as well as health supplements and specialized dietary and medical foods. 2. Climb high and look up, staying true to the “core” of advancing technology.
In an era where traffic is king, while some companies are lavishly spending huge sums of money on “traffic acquisition” to grab attention, dominate the market, and reap easy and abundant profits, I’ve chosen the hardest, slowest path—what many would see as nothing but “fussing around.” Yet, this is precisely the most authentic approach. Invest energy and funding into the construction of the Group’s Technology Research and Development Center and the Shennong Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

 


Continuously increase theoretical research and technological investment in the greater health sector, Establish a big data platform for Traditional Chinese Medicine’s Yin-Yang, Four Qi, Five Flavors, Six Evils, Seven Emotions, and Eight Principles, along with a comprehensive model of TCM’s “ruler-minister-assistant-guide” compatibility principles. Additionally, develop a panoramic application atlas of artificial intelligence in nutritional science, thereby forming the Wansongtang Grand Health Technology and Process Theoretical System. By leveraging new technologies, new processes, new raw materials, and new equipment, we will innovatively integrate traditional Chinese medicine’s syndrome differentiation and treatment approach with the principles of modern precision medicine. Develop universal and targeted health solutions tailored to populations with diverse ethnicities, living environments, and cultural backgrounds. Implement a strategy of producing one generation of products, researching and developing the next, and stockpiling a reserve generation. Obtain hundreds of intellectual property rights, including invention patents, technological achievement transformations, and product certification and registration filings.

 

 

3. Ascend to a high vantage point and gaze around—embracing the “essence” of a global strategic vision.

When I first proposed, over a decade ago, that we should enter the international market and bring China’s traditional Chinese medicine culture—as well as Wansongtang’s health products and wellness wisdom—to center stage on the global stage, many people dismissed it as a pipe dream, an unrealistic “fuss” that would never come to fruition.

When some enterprises engage in illegal activities by leveraging “technology and ruthless tactics,” ethics and a sense of duty remind oneself: We must adhere to using scientific and technological progress to promote improvements in human health and uphold the principle that technology should be used for good. When some enterprises repeatedly engage in activities that undermine social trust and market order, fairness and justice tell me— We must stay on the right path and remain committed to conducting business with integrity and kindness. When I see friends around me faltering, running away, or simply disappearing from the scene—some even ending up behind bars—I constantly remind myself to avoid doing anything that exceeds my own capabilities or goes against the very essence of business. Adhere to business common sense and maintain the boundaries of our capabilities; persist in sustainable and healthy operations.

 

 

3. Maintain sustained profitability and fulfill corporate social responsibility.

The first principle of private enterprises is profitability. Rather than competing fiercely with the market or blindly pursuing scale expansion, we focus on ensuring that our company can remain sustainably profitable. Profitability is not only the foundation for a company’s survival but also the prerequisite for fulfilling our social responsibilities. Wansongtang has stayed true to its core business and proactively turned down lucrative but misaligned opportunities—such as real estate and internet finance—that didn’t align with our company’s positioning. As a result, after 30 years, Wansongtang remains healthy and thriving. It’s precisely because we’ve consistently resisted the temptation to seek quick gains, avoid rash decisions, and refrain from overconfidence or showing off in critical moments and key decision points that Wansongtang has been able to thrive for three decades. There hasn't been a single year of operating losses, not a single month of delayed employee wages, and not a single penny of unpaid supplier invoices.
